Under New Zealand legislation you will require a COF to rent out your car. A COF is basically the same as a WOF (Warrant of Fitness) however, it verifies that the vehicle is compliant with NZTA rules and regulations around rental vehicles and that the vehicle is safe to be used as a rental car. A WOF costs the same as a WOF and covers you in the same way (once you have a COF, you no longer require a WOF), so there is no additional cost over and above what you would normally pay for a 6 monthly WOF.
